The South Fork Breast Health Coalition has received the following grants and awards in the past several years.

Awards & Recognition

Susie Roden Awarded 2008 Women of the Year by the East End Women's Network.

Susie Roden recognized as a “Local Hero” by BMW of North America.

Cindy Grant, South Fork Breast Health Coalition Board Member and coordinator of Southampton Hospital’s Massage Therapy Program, received the 2006 Humanitarian Award from New York State Medical Massage Therapists.

Recognized by President Clinton and Senator Clinton, Designer Betsy Johnson, Actress Renee Zellweger, Carol Baldwin, Mayor Rudy Guiliani, Congressman Tim Bishop & and many others.

Awarded the New York State Department of Health, “Innovations in Breast Cancer Research and Education Awards 2007”.

$2,000 - Town of Southampton for the Bosom Buddy Program
$2,000 - Town of East Hampton for the Bosom Buddy Program
$5,000 - Suffolk County for the Bosom Buddy Program
$65,000 - Ellen's Run for Ellen's Well, Diva Spa Weekend, Think Pink School Program

Susan G. Komen For the Cure Greater New York City awarded $45,500.00 to the South Fork Breast Health Coalition to continue their Bosom Buddy program which helps underserved women with transportation costs, a Spanish Interpreter, and access to support programs as well as its Neighbors Helping Neighbors Program.

KeySpan Energy for the second year has funded the educational Mother’s Day Cards which raises awareness about breast cancer prevention tools such as yearly mammograms, clinical breast exams and breast self-exams.

Ellen P. Hermanson Foundation supports the SFBHC psychosocial programs for breast cancer survivors. The program is a support group ran by a LCSW focusing on dealing with breast cancer.

Simon’s Foundation supports the Neighbors Helping Neighbors Program

Cowles Foundation awarded $10,000.00 to the SFBHC to support our Mind/Body program. This program is focused on wellness and health and utilizes yoga, meditation, guided imagery and massage therapy to deal with the anxiety associated with being diagnosed with breast cancer.

The Town of Southampton provided funds for the Think Pink program geared towards high school students. The program is directed and taught by a nurse educator and breast cancer survivor.

The Beth C. Tortolani Foundation awarded The Coalition $5000 for the Wings of Hope Program.

Suffolk County awarded The Coalition $4000 for the Bosom Buddy Program.
